Last week I posted news that FOX had asked the Payne & Redemption team to cease any further work on the production of their independent film.
Well guys, it's been a tough and stressful couple weeks, but the firing pin has finally struck the primer, and now I must reveal what has come of this debacle...We spoke to the Vice President of Intellectual Property at Fox this evening (who, by the way, is only reiterating what her executives have demanded), and they have agreed to letting us continue production. However, we're no longer allowed to distribute the film publically, which means everyone of you who has stood by and supported us over the years will never *officially* get to see the film. We're also to remove all three trailers from this website and hold no more than ONE private screening of the film when it is ready for release. You may ask "So what's the point if no one's going to see it?" - The point is to finish what I started; a little idea I once dreamt up on a hot summer's eve and fought to keep alive through every obstacle it came up against. I'm not going to come this far only to walk away and just fuhgidabowdit - Hell no!
But ya know what? I can't help but feel all this work has been done in vain... Three years of sleepless nights, tens of thousands of pounds spent from my own pocket, promises made to cast & crew, and hope given to a loyal fan-base now kicked in the nuts and just told to "deal with it"... It's not right, is it? But there again, you could argue that we weren't "right" for making this film. It's up to you which way you look at it... But in my opinion, there is no "right" or "wrong", only balls and nutcrackers.
I do remain positive, though, as Fox may very well end up changing their minds by the time we are ready to release the film, although this is highly doubtful - just hopeful. But whatever happens, we WILL complete this production, so this certainly won't be the last time you hear from me.
In closing, I'd like to thank each and every one of you, THE FANS, with the utmost sincerity for the support you have offered us over the years - it's been one HELL of a ride! Perhaps we'll be able to wangle the odd behind-the-scenes photo for you guys in the future? Who knows...
