New Max Payne movie trailer 29th August 2008 - by biXen

There's a new movie trailer for the Max Payne movie, check it out at your favourite game news site, Youtube or VE3D that have simple Flash player links of your choice.

After you've taken a look at the newest footage, feel free to discuss the movie in our fresh forums.

Rumours are that the developers of The Warrior (Rockstar Toronto) are to make the next Max Payne game. It's EGM that is claiming to know that Take 2 will let one of Rockstar's internal development houses handle the long awaited Max Payne 3. With the movie coming in October it was expected that a new game was in the works, but it's not confirmed by Rockstar Games if this is true, and nobody knows when the release date would be either, although you'd expect it to be close to the movie.

Remedy is busy with Alan Wake as most of you know already and is not developing Max Payne 3. Happy? Unhappy? Don't believe it? Don't want to live anymore? Discuss the Max Payne 3 news in our forums.

Take 2 owns the rights to Max Payne which is placed under the Rockstar branding, Remedy developed the first two games, with Rockstars internal development houses handling console versions. The movie rights have been sold to Fox. A short summary for those outside of the know :)

Slowly, more and more information about the hollywood film adaption of Max Payne is becoming available. Last week, the first trailer released. This week we have 6 promo photos for your viewing pleasure. It seems a hardcore Max Payne fan searched into the files of the official website and found a few photos not yet released. Therefor these are not yet available in a higher resolution, however, these photos are expected to be released soon on the official website. So stay frosty!

22/07/08 Update : The official movie website has been updated with two new pictures and a slighty different trailer. You can find them here.

Max Payne Movie Trailer 10th July 2008 - by Mattze

I'm sure many of you are eagerly awaiting the release of the Max Payne movie, anxious to see whether or not it will live up to the colossal expectations of the Max Payne community.

Well you can have a look at the first tailer over at YouTube

I know many people still hold a grudge against Fox for abruptly, and very rudely, shutting down the Payne and Redemption project but I think it's still important to support the upcoming Max Payne film as the cast and crew are not responsibile for the actions of Fox.

I'll try and get some more information added for both Payne and Redemption and the Max Payne movie over the next few weeks just to give people a little insight into the two projects.

Last week I posted news that FOX had asked the Payne & Redemption team to cease any further work on the production of their independent film.

Well guys, it's been a tough and stressful couple weeks, but the firing pin has finally struck the primer, and now I must reveal what has come of this debacle...

We spoke to the Vice President of Intellectual Property at Fox this evening (who, by the way, is only reiterating what her executives have demanded), and they have agreed to letting us continue production. However, we're no longer allowed to distribute the film publically, which means everyone of you who has stood by and supported us over the years will never *officially* get to see the film. We're also to remove all three trailers from this website and hold no more than ONE private screening of the film when it is ready for release. You may ask "So what's the point if no one's going to see it?" - The point is to finish what I started; a little idea I once dreamt up on a hot summer's eve and fought to keep alive through every obstacle it came up against. I'm not going to come this far only to walk away and just fuhgidabowdit - Hell no!

But ya know what? I can't help but feel all this work has been done in vain... Three years of sleepless nights, tens of thousands of pounds spent from my own pocket, promises made to cast & crew, and hope given to a loyal fan-base now kicked in the nuts and just told to "deal with it"... It's not right, is it? But there again, you could argue that we weren't "right" for making this film. It's up to you which way you look at it... But in my opinion, there is no "right" or "wrong", only balls and nutcrackers.

I do remain positive, though, as Fox may very well end up changing their minds by the time we are ready to release the film, although this is highly doubtful - just hopeful. But whatever happens, we WILL complete this production, so this certainly won't be the last time you hear from me.

In closing, I'd like to thank each and every one of you, THE FANS, with the utmost sincerity for the support you have offered us over the years - it's been one HELL of a ride! Perhaps we'll be able to wangle the odd behind-the-scenes photo for you guys in the future? Who knows...

Stay frosty,

Fergle "Larry David" Gibson,
Writer & Director.

For the low-down read the full news article over at the Payne and Redemption homepage.

As I’m sure many of you are well aware Twentieth Century Fox recently acquired the exclusive motion picture rights from Take Two interactive for the Max Payne series.

Also I’m sure most, if not all, of you are aware of Payne and Redemption; an independent film based on Max Payne.

In a recent email from Fox’s legal department to the P&R team Fox asked that all development of Payne and Redemption be ceased immediately. This is indeed controversial; if you would like to read the full article then head on over to the Payne & Redemption homepage.

PayneReactor Update 5th January 2008 - by Mattze

As you can probably gather there isn't alot going on over here these days. Infact there isn't alot going on in the Max Payne world at all. Personally I plan to get round to re-furbishing the site once I install the latest version of the software on which it runs.

As far as I am concerned I have spent the last few onths working on my GrandTheftAuto site, which also runs on the same software as this site, just a much more recent version. You can take a look at this site over at CodenameGTA.

So get your gear ready when it comes, because it will come hard.

Five years of Payne 1st August 2006 - by Cypress

Five years ago, at the 25th of July, Max Payne was made available in stores. It was exactly five years ago we met Max, our beloved gritty cop. With who we started a quest for revenge and answers. It was exactly five years ago, that a earthquake woke up film directors and game designers with one of the best features this game contained. Remedy introduced Bullettime and photo textures. Which would be used in a lot of upcoming movies and games. Don't tell me you never tried to do a shootdoge or walked in slowmotion trough the living room. Nostalgic, I feel when I have the dvd-box of Max Payne in my hand. I can still remember my first gameplay experiance, and the tousand times I started up mods, to check the new abilities. Katana being one of them, a moment in the Max Payne history we surely may not forget ! Happy Birthday Payne.

As you may have noticed Mattze is working hard at the site, and he has updated its code already ! Great Work Mattze!

After a few teasershots for the upcoming photoshoot, I'm glad to announce that the first official photoshoot, the promised big media release, is out!Fergle Gibson, organised with some payne and redemption the first official photoshoot, those pictures can now be watched on their website! This mean Max Payne his face is finally discovered, and I have to say it looks very promising !

Max Payne : Payne & Redemption 10th February 2006 - by Cypress

Deep Six was recently in contact with writer & director, mister Fergle Gibson, a man responsible for the making of a Max Payne fan film (yes, a fan movie, we're still waiting for information about the official one; the scouts are out). A film to be called Max Payne: Payne & Redemption, is promised to be true to the mood of the game. We managed to get him talk a bit about the production.

Payne & Redemption is Part III of a series of collective shorts surrounding an original foreboding tale of love, betrayal, vengeance... and a whole lotta painkillers. The story focuses on the development of Max Payne's character, exploring his psyche and what drives his incessant behaviour towards pursuing what's most important to him - Justice.
