Is Remedy developing Max Payne 3, or writing the story?
No, Remedy is not developing Max Payne 3. They sold the rights of the Max Payne franchise to Take-Two Interactive before the release of Max Payne 2. For Max Payne 3, various Rockstar Games studios teamed up to develop the game. However, Remedy was involved in the development process in an advising role.

Now that Rockstar Games is developing, has Max Payne 3 become open-world?
No. Rockstar does uses the same engine as seen before in Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption. The powerful engine used for wide open spaces is now used for smaller spaces. Because of this the developers are able to add a lot more detail to the levels and achieve better performance and effects.

Is James McCafferey returning to the series?
Contrary to an article in GameInformer published a few years ago, it has been confirmed that James McCafferey will return as the voice, face and motion capture actor for Max Payne.

Why is Max Payne bald, older and bulkier in some screenshots?
You’ve never turned 40 have you? Max Payne 3 takes place a few years after Max Payne 2, so naturally Max is older. He’s been popping pills, drinking heavily and hit rock bottom. Through various events Max wants to make a statement and fear his enemies. He does so by changing his physique.

But in some newer screenshots Max seems to be sporting a full head of hair, what am I missing?
Apparently, Max Payne 3 will shift constantly forwards and backwards in time. As the game progresses it will show just how crazy and desperate Max becomes to survive.

Max Payne 3 takes place in Soa Paulo Brazil, what effect does that have on the game it’s famous Noir style?
Many Fans are afraid the change of location has affected the game it’s famous Noir style. Rest assured though, as this marks the second game Rockstar has developed that’s about Noir, that all will be alright. Rockstar promised us to leave all things that mark a Max Payne game intact.

Will Max Payne 3 be moddable?
There’s no definitive answer for that yet, but we’re guessing it will be. Grand Theft Auto IV is also being modded by franchise enthusiast, so we’re sure one will find a way.

Will Mona Sax or any other characters from the previous instalments return?
Hard to say, as most of them died we’re guessing not so. Mona might make an re-appearance but as of yet, no details are known.
