Against all odds Max Payne is cleared from the charges after the first game, with some help from Alfred Woden. Now he's once again hunted for murder, this time he's guilty though after getting mixed up with a bad gang called "the Cleaners", and yet again he loses a loved one.

Mona is back, this time as his love interest, again he faces the New York underground, full of scum and murderous thugs, this time he looks even better though. This is pretty much the basis of the story for Max Payne 2, of course there's more, but do you really want to know too much? We think not.
