A small contest for our users 2nd April 2005 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
PayneReactor changes
Our content management system is well underway, so keep watching this space for more and better updates, and some polishes. But for now, read how you can make the site look even better. I have made a page for it:
New Forums for PayneReactor users 13th March 2005 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Update
We have gone into a community effort to centralize forums and the community a bit. So our forums will now be at Max Payne Forums. Head over there and have a chat. If you already were registered at my forum your user should still be there. Kudos to ADM for setting most of this stuff up. I'm just a lazy bum :(
Mod needs gameplay mapper
I'm a bit slow, but aavenr, mixuk (from Remedy) and Maddieman (of Katana fame) have a project going on, and they need a skilled gameplay mapper. Read more about it in the thread at 3DR and see how to contact them.
MI: New Dawn trailer is out + some site status 25th February 2005 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Update
The update is taking longer than expected, and will continue to do so, we'll see when I can sort it out. I'll get back to my visitors with new info soon, but for now check out the next news.
MI: New Dawn has trailer online
MP2 TC, MI: New Dawn have now put their trailer for download. It kicks serious butt, everyone must download it and see NOW. This TC is gonna be a kickass showoff for Max Payne 2 and it's modscene.
Rogue Ops news
StratonAce the leader of Rogue Ops has quit the Max Payne scene. But don't worry, capable man [HP] that also mapped for New Dawn is taking over. StratonAce will probably be found on mods for other games soon, we'll let you know more about RogueOps soon. But check out the page for updates.
The site status 11th November 2004
by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
What is happening at PayneReactor.com?!
Thanks to everyone that has offered to help me
out. I've selected a guy for the site manager
position. He's a very talented fella, and will
convert the site to PHP. We'll see when it get's
done, it's a quite heavy job. But after that it'll
be a lot easier for anyone to update my site.
I'll mail those of you I haven't replied to yet
soon. I might have some suggestions for some of
you. There's still a big interest for Max Payne,
from me and from many other people.
MI: New Dawn has new shots up
Our hosted site MP2 TC, Mission Impossible: New
Dawn have posted action screenshots of their mod
now. I strongly advise you to check it out, it
all looks great. I think this mod is going to
kick serious ass.
We need a Site Manager 14th October 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Site manager needed
Hi everyone,
I've lately been swamped with things in my personal life, and have to prioritize my freetime work a bit. For now that will be set on mapping and finishing up some designprojects I have. Now I don't want PayneReactor to suffer too much from this, since it will prevail for long, but I need someone to finish my ideas, put some of their own into action, and keep the site up to snap. I will probably be following it up more as 2005 approaches, but I still need others, and influences from others are always useful.
If you are interested, remember this:
There is no news system, you must know HTML and CSS fairly well
You can edit the pages with whatever you want, but Dreamweaver users preferred for publishing
You must know some basic image-editing
You gotta have good English skills
Most important: You have to be a long time Max Payne fan, preferably active in the community
Important! Go to the Contact Us page to mail me telling me why you are interested and so on. I'll answer you with a challenge or something like that. This is your chance if you love the game and want to have some influence over the 40,000 visitors I have every month.
Katana for Max Payne is out 30th September 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Long awaited Max Payne mod Katana is finally released! We've waited for about two years for this. It is almost legendary before it's release, the work of Maddieman and Stratonace, Katana. A mod for the original Max Payne filled with swordwielding ninjas and topped off with flying gibs and blood. Well, what the hell, don't let me disturb you, go and download it NOW!
If you are thinking that the art to the right here is cool you are indeed paying attention. It's done by JIN (aka Hanuman), great isn't it? See more in the Katana forums or in the 3DR Forums.
Max Payne 2 TC New Dawn site goes public 11th September 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
New Dawn site goes live Finally I can announce one of the most anticipated TCs for Max Payne 2's site going live. This mod has been in the making for a long time now, and the team has finally decided that it's time to go official with their site, to show it off. There's not much more to say, visit the site!
The Max Payne 2 Mod contest results are out! 8th September 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Max Payne 2 Modcontest Results here Rockstar Games have announced the winners of their mod competition that has been running for a long time now. No surprise, Tommi Salasti aka. Froz won the mod category with his mod Battle Tactics 2. For those of you not in the know, BT2 is a turn-based action type mod. Very sweet. I suggest you try it out, it's at the Rockstar Contest Results site.
Alexander Pippan won the DMW contest with his Bare Island map. You can get both winners at the official Mod Contest page. The Machinima contest was won by
Rajarshi Nag and Amit Shetty's submission "Payne to the Max".
Other mod news Max Payne Dev have opened their prefab library, a tad less lazy than I am. Damn, shame on me. Well, still, they say 350 prefabs, so that should be a good resource, go nuts.
Another community site for Max Payne 5th September 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Max Payne Dev opens For those of you that are trying to make mods for Max Payne 1 or 2, your job got a bit easier now. ADoomedMarine, which some might know from the 3DRealms Forums or Deep Six, have started a site dedicated to help the modding community, and it's looking good. It's added to our affils, and so is Max Payne Italia.
Some general info
I've been a bit slow to answer mails lately, sorry for that to everyone that mails me. I usually try to answer everything though. It depends how busy I am, if you don't get a reply I may not be interested in whatever you ask :)
Right now there is some exciting times for this community, as there is a lot of good stuff coming around the corner. I will keep you updated of that, but I realize I could need some help with the site in these days. We'll see.
Two more big mods released 13th August 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Froz unleashes Battle Tactics 2 and Sketchbook Sam The mighty modder Froz got permission from Rockstar Games to release his mods eventhough the contest results still aren't out. And boy is the community happy for that. I already thought we were lucky with Kung Fu, and now comes two more mods. Now I've got a problem, I've changed ISP today, and I'm having troubles with slow speed and constant connection disruptions :( So I can't get the mods myself. MAN am I annoyed. But I'm not gonna let you wait, eventhough I did for a while, but that was out of my hands :) Go and get the mods. (this also means no pictures of them yet, but trust me, they look good). After you get them feel free to stop by the PayneReactor forums to discuss the mods.
Sketchbook Sam is a platformer, with sideview and jumping "puzzles" in good old style. It looks very stylish, and I'm looking forward to play it already. Get it from the sources below (it's 15MB).
Battle Tactics 2 is a turn-based action affair. I don't know too much about this version, but BT1 was great fun. I'll give some more comments once I try it myself, until then go get it. It's about 50MB, but be patient :)
Kung Fu for Max Payne 2 is here! 11th August 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Everybody was Kung-fu fighting Our favourite modding pimp, Froz, has released version 1.0 of his Kung-fu mod for Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Don't expect anything as polished as Kung Fu 3, this is released partly as help to the community as well, so you might see someone polishing this even more and using it for their own stuff. Well anyway, try it out, it's pretty fun. There's a tutorial, a time killing mode and you can play the normal levels with Kung Fu.
Information about PayneReactor
Hi all, I've updated "Site Info" a bit, for those of you that know little or nothing about this page, when it was started, why it's here and so on. Go check it out if you dare.
Max Payne 2 TC looking for voice-actors 8th August 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Get your 15 minutes of fame Most of you that have visited my site in these last years know that I normally don't post things like this. So why do I do it now? Well there isn't much quality work getting any recognition for Max Payne 2 yet. Things are starting to look good for Max Payne 1, after 3 years, it's in all our interests to get a good Max Payne 2 community so that's why you should read this, and give it a shot.
This is your chance to join in on a TC that I'm pretty sure will be great having seen some of these guys' work. Here's what theHunted has to say:
"I am looking for voice actors for my current project. A yet to be announced Max Payne 2 TC. Basically, I am in need of a total of 8 voice actors. If you're willing to give it a try and want to participate, feel free to perform and record the following 2 sample lines:
*Spoken with fierce voice*: "Find him, and eliminate him! Is that clear enough?"
*Spoken with upset voice*: "Stop bullshitting me, and tell me what the hell is going on!"
To get the best and most convincing results, you should basically use your "natural" voice, and not change it by force. Actors with english as mother tongue are preferred however. Please zip your sample audio files and send them to address specified below. We'll get in contact with you once we have made a decision on your performance amongst team. If you want to add something worthwile to the community, this is your chance."
Kipsta's Paynekiller is still alive I just realized I had forgotten to say this, but Kipsta has taken his site online again for a while. So go and read those tutorials while you can, this community needs more maps and more mods :)
New things happening at PayneReactor.com 1st August 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
All the good Max Payne mods Many people have asked for Max Payne 1 mods, many people have said the mod community for Max Payne gets nothing done. Well Maddieman from my hosted site Hell's Kitchen wanted to prove them wrong, so he made a list of approximately 50 good mods for Max Payne 1. You can read more about the basis for each mod getting on the list and such before going to the list, it's all in our modfications section. We'll make something similar for Max Payne 2 as well, so get cracking. For those of you that are waiting for the contest results, Rockstar says they are on their way, but I guess vacation is slowing it down a bit.
The prefab library This has once again been modified a bit. Now you can see how it will be categorized and all, but not everything is there yet, don't cry, it'll be there soon :)
Katana gets forums The mighty Katana, by Maddieman and StratonAce will soon be released. So they (or Strat) decided to get a forum where people could discuss, ask stupid questions and share experiences before and after the mod is out. So do that, and if you aren't already registered to our boards, this is a GREAT excuse to go to our forums.
In general Well, looks like Doom 3 will be out soon, nice way to spend $1000, hope you'll come back here to play Max Payne 2 in all it's glory after you're done pissing your pants :) I'm hoping to get more tutorials and more community stuff on this site as the fall progresses, we'll see what we can do, as some of you know I'm working on mod stuff myself, and since this is no full-time job it's inspiring with a sort of community around it.
If you've got any tips or comments about the site, go to Contact Info under About Us in the menu.
A small update 20th June 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Hell's Kitchen is alive For those of you that haven't noticed, Maddieman is making some nice updates to his site Hell's Kitchen, giving some nice tips to modders in the Max Payne community and gaming in general. A lot of interesting stuff to read that Maddie has figured out in the long mod processes he's been involved in. Go and check out his site Hell's Kitchen now.
Paynereactor updates I'm reorganizing the prefab library, so it'll be a little while before it's up in it's new form and with some more prefabs. It would be too hard to update otherwise, so I'm categorizing it now. Be patient, meanwhile feel free to visit the old one, in the Misc section of my Max Payne 2 mod section.
