I recently did a Intervieuw with Aztec, developper of the Street Fighter mod for Max Payne 2. Street Figther changes Max Payne into a action packed fighting game. This intervieuw reveals unknown information and also contains 3 exclusive shots!
Cypress: How did you came up the idea, to turn Max Payne into a Fighting game?
Aztec: Well basically I got the idea once I saw the original KungFu mod for Max payne 1 by Kenneth Young. I thought about how such a system used could be put to better use and being a pretty big Streetfighter fan I thought why not. By changing the basic Max Payne gameplay I'm hoping it will also make a rather refreshing change to the usual Max Payne forumla.
Cypress: personally i think that worked pretty well, but explain us, How exactly will the fight system work in-game?

Aztec: The actual fighting system itself remains very true to the original Kungfu mod and also to Froz's version for Max Payne 2. Moves are accessed in very much the same way with a couple of exceptions. These exceptions being about to auto switch weapons during combat which don't need any input from the player, its done automatically for most cases when you block. This allows for double the amount of moves per character, not including the characters super moves. If you're used to the Kungfu system you shouldn't have any problems.
Cypress: What makes this fighting mod so special, besides the kickass models and kung-fu moves?
Aztec: In my opinion I think the reason people are interested in Streetfighter is that i'm attempting to do something which many people in the past thought was impossible to do. By turning a 3rd person shooter into a 1-on-1 fighting mod without any sort SDK only using what we have, a basic scripting language. I feel that this type of mod will be unique amongst the released and the forthcoming mods for Max Payne 2.
Cypress: I agree, this is one of the mods that will bring something new to Max Payne. About the mod itself, is it linear to the games or movies or did you put some of your own work in?
Aztec: The main element of the mod itself is the story section which is focused on Ryu and his search to find his true self from within. This follows a completely new story line not seen in the films or any of the previous Streetfighter games which each of the characters included in the mod play a role of some sort.

Cypress: Was it difficult to do everything youreself?
Aztec: Most certainly, I personally would never attempt anything like this by myself again. By doing so though allowed me to learn nearly every aspect I need to mod Max Payne 2, from the coding, mapping, models, animation and also PFX. Obviously all this takes time which is why I enlisted a couple of guys to do some of the other tasks while I contraited on the other aspects. Joonas is helping out alot on PFX effects and also some past contributors regarding earlier PFX effects (LD) and also with the sound fx and music (Alexi09).
Cypress: You just mentiond the mod will be story based, and follows the way of Ryu, we also know from the character screens Ryu has two sides, a evil and a good side. Your going to let the player choose?

Aztec: Obviously I don't want to give away too much info but the player won't be able to choose.
Cypress: Are you going to quit the max payne modding scene or do you continue modding?
Aztec: I haven't really decided at this point but I do have work to do on other modifications so chances are I will still stick around for a while.
Cypress]: already have an idea of what we can expect of youre next mod if follows?
Aztec: I have several idea's floating about atm but we will see...
Cypress: Thanks for your time Aztec!
Aztec: Your very welcome.
