The Max Payne 2 Mod Contest deadline is creeping up on us Rockstar has reminded us that their mod contest submission deadline is 15th May. Be sure to have your mods and whatnots ready for that date. Submit your work here at the mod contest page.
As a sidenote, if you like brutal action and also have a hunch for sneaky type games, be sure to check out Manhunt, the newest game by the GTA creators of Rockstar North, which came out for Xbox and PC recently, it's damn fun.
A whole bunch of prefabs added to our database I've been lucky enough to get a whole host of prefabs that Noodlez used to host at his site, so now you can still get access to these. As some of you might know Noodlez also closed down his site lately, much like Kipsta did, Kipsta's tutorials will be available in PDF format as soon as he has time available. But for now, enjoy almost 30 prefabs in a nice overview in my Max Payne 2 Misc Section.
A mod in the works 13th April 2004 by Tim "Predator" Ness
A mod that could use some publicity The Hell Unchained mod is a total conversion of Max Payne 2 that features stunning character models, and extensive storyline, and several new enemies for people to shoot, smash, and blow up.
A direct quote from the mod's website:
“The final version will include completely new storyline with new playable character - Veronica Faucett, a young woman looking for her father in a small Czech town, and also new NPCs and lot of new enemies including skeletons, deamons or nazi zombies armed with MP40s, flamethrowers and other weapons.”
The screenshots of both the maps, and characters are stunning. From what it looks like, this mod is shaping up to be a true gem. I'll be keeping you posted on this mod as it develops more.
New Battle Tactics 2 (previously Ruination) screenshots 11th April 2004 by Kristian "biXen" Hollund
Froz has released some new shots of his mod If you didn't know, Battle Tactics 2 (which we had news about before, only it had a working title Ruination), is a turn-based shooter. Froz has worked on this for a while and finally has some more screenshots to show. These are apparently from 3 levels, out of 7 since he doesn't want to reveal too much. Check out the shots for yourself.
Edit: Had to correct an error. I mistakingly said the screenshots are from levels 3-7, when they were in fact from 3 levels and there are 7 levels in total.
Civil Unrest - scary zombie shooter goes public
This Max Payne 2 TC lead by Rico has recently got a name. Not much is known yet apart from the fact that it will contain zombies and be scary :) Look out for a site coming soon. Oh and there's a teaser shot published as you can see, showing the hud (work in progress).
Kipsta's Paynekiller has closed
Kipsta put an end to the speculation and closed his most excellent mod tutorial site. Luckily he will gather his tutorials together for a PDF version to be published. But there won't be coming anything new from him, which is sad, he helped a lot of people understand many aspects of Max Payne 2 modding, including me. RIP Paynekiller...

Weekend summary Excellent start on the weekend when Manchester United won the F.A. Cup semi-final against Arsenal, then it was all a joyride until today. Doing some updates, working on some map plans. I guess many people is wondering what modders are doing nowadays. I think there's stuff going on, but everyone is more skilled at keeping their mouths shut now :) See you all later, enjoy today's content.

Big event tomorrow For us footballfans (soccer to you Americans), there's not much that beats English Premier League matches, but one thing that comes close, is English FA Cup matches, especially when they are like this one. Arsenal vs. Manchester United. Now I'm a United fan since '86, and I'm gonna be enjoying a beer tomorrow at 13:05 GMT+1 ;) Hopefully this man (right) will be fit to play after getting a knock in the internationals this week.
