New
gameplay videos and previews 30th September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund There's
a lot of new gameplay videos released, and
I only say ONE thing to you. GO
AND GET THEM. I don't care if you are
on 56K and have to wait ten days, just get
them. If you thought this game would be
good, you'll think it's going to be great
after seeing this, if you thought it was
going to be mediocre you are going to bend
over after seeing these videos. This is
KICKASS action at it's best, get get excited.
You can find links to all the videos on
my Max
Payne 2 downloads page here.
There are some updated previews at Gamespy,
IGN
and Gamespot
because of this. Might be worth checking
out, there's a tad of new info there. And
it's also been confirmed what I assumed
about Bullettime 2.0, the improved version
for this game. You will build up a time
difference between you and the enemies if
you kill enemies, hence making them move
slower than you, I think it looks cool,
not everyone does, but let's just wait until
we've played it. Nobody's gonna miss Half-Life
2 for a while. Just check out the physics
in MP2, powered by the same physics engine,
Havok.
By the way, there was new screenshots with
some of these previews, hence my Max
Payne 2 screenshots page is updated,
and it now has 40 unique different screenshots,
so check it out. But most important, the
gameplay
movies here.
On another note, Max 2 is rated M for "strong
violence, strong language, blood, and mature
sexual themes". Mature sexual themes?
The kissing? ;) I think this is another
title the Norwegian family minister will
want to ban, she's insane, don't ask :)
Some
updates lately 29th September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund As some
of you have noticed, Maddieman is constantly
updating a picture of the day at his site
Hell's
Kitchen. I think they are from both
The Real World and Katana 2, anyway they
look great, if you don't visit his
site today you'll miss out, same goes
for tomorrow :)
Some more good news. The roots of the Max
Payne Headquarters people have created
the site Max
Payne Source. They are trying to make
it more friendly this time, time will show
if they succeed. After a bit annoying style
sheet in the beginning it's now shaping
up nicely. They'll probably get some content
in there as soon as they can. But for now
their forums are available to chat a bit
in. On that topic my forums should have
been up a while ago, no such luck, I'll
see when I get time.
Some news from Deep
Six. They have a great interview with
the Katana
2 makers Maddieman and StratonAce, part
1 is online now. And along with that comes
screenshots and two exclusive gameplay videos
of the mod, and it looks sweeter than I
had imagined. Check it all out in the interview
here.
Maniac of Deep
Six has also written a rather odd article
of what won't be in Max
Payne 2, head over here to read it ;)
Another interesting tidbit mentioned at
Deep
Six is that Max Payne 2 is confirmed
for two cds by George Broussard of 3D
Realms, Max
Payne Area reported this. I already
was 99% sure it was, but nice to have it
confirmed. And people, 15th October is release
date for the PC version. 30th for Europe,
or 24th if you are lucky (some rumours said
so).
Official
Max Payne 2 site is now updated with gameplay
videos 24th September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund Gamespy
had a little Q&A session with Petri
Järvilehto of Remedy today. You can
read that here.
The especially good
news about that is that now all gameplay
movies that has been site exclusives this
past time is now available on the Offical
Max Payne 2 website, MaxPayne2.com.
You can go there and grab a big zip file
with all files in nice quality or see one
and one. Head on over and check out their
media section. We've updated our screenshots
page with the newest screenshot that
you can see following this newspost. I've
also updated the Max
Payne 2 downloads page with info about
the gameplay movies.
On that note, Froz has made a pretty cool
fan video which uses footage from most of
the gameplay videos released, combined with
nice editing and music from the Requiem
for a Dreamsoundtrack
it sounds pretty nice. You can get it here.
By the way, guess everyone already noticed
that the contest winner is in the top banner
now. Looks pretty good, might do it so they
change later, will see.
Another
Max Payne 2 gameplay video 22nd September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund Shacknews
has an exclusive Max Payne 2 gameplay video
up for grabs. It comes in WMV9 format, so
make sure you are up to date before heading
over to check
it out.
If you aren't an IGN
subscriber you might also want to check
out the
mirror of the movieclip they got a few days
ago which shows off one of the comic
book sequences in Max Payne 2. This game
looks smoookin... OMG WTF LOL !!! Thanks
to Deep
Six for that piece of news.
To all you fellow Max Payne 2 fans I must
just say one thing. Stop whining about every
little thing that doesn't look so cool in
the low-res 14 second video clips. All the
cool stuff will be cool, everything that
looks bad will probably be cool to. Have
some faith. "There is no try, just
do". Had to quote wise man Yoda. Now
go check out some of these videos and enjoy
the evening. If you have no clue what videos
are out, head on over to our Max
Payne 2 Downloads page to check it out.
Screenshots,
interviews and more media 21st September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund JCal from
HomeLan
Fed let me know that they've got an
interview with Petri Järvilehto of
Remedy asking some questions about Max Payne
2 and how they felt the response for Max
Payne was among other things. It features
two screenshots, one of them you can see
on the right side here. Go and check it
out here,
it's a good read.
Spotted at affils Deep
Six that Gamers.com
has a preview of Max Payne 2 up at their
site. Doesn't look that interesting content-wise,
but it has 3 new shots. The shots also look
a bit odd, maybe they are scanned, I'm not
sure. They look too bright. Still, worth
checking out here.
Another interesting tidbit, Max Payne is
reported to be on it's way to the Gameboy
Advance. It'll come on a 128MB cartridge
and will be named Max Payne Advanced (how
original). More info on that here.
Also worth noting, I've updated the downloads
and screenshots
pages for Max Payne 2 with all the new stuff.
Some people doesn't catch the older newspost
with news about the Max Payne 2 trailer
being out, so I'm saying it again, there's
a Max Payne 2 trailer out! There may be
a bigger and better one yet, but one is
already out, go
to the Max Payne 2 downloads page to
find links to it.
Matrix
Revolutions Update and Media 21st September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund Friggin
Payne man! [/Vinnie Gognitti]. So many updates
these days, with all Max Payne 2 media coming.
Well it's good news, it's nearing release.
This update is concerning a mod for Max
Payne though, Matrix
Revolutions has a trailer to show off
and wants to tell the world about their
mod. I will just quote Versable who sent
me the info.
"Matrix Revolutions is not just
another Kung Fu + official maps mod. Rather,
this mod will have much deeper and original
ideas such as a flying mode, bullet stoping
and Gunkata mod (Similar to drunken shootdodging
but more fast paced and stylefull). Yes
this mod will use Kung Fu 3.0 but with new
animations. This mod will feature about
170+ new animations, over 15 new weapons,
atleast 3 new maps and official maps such
as Lobbyshootout."
IGN
with another Max Payne 2 interview 20th September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund This is the
day of Max Payne 2 news. IGN
now has a little interview with Sami Järvi
(aka. Sam Lake), Lead writer for Max Payne
2. He explains some relations between Max
and Mona, things about the script and in general
the improvements between Max and Max 2. There's
also a new screenshot, which again I will
not put up here yet, they'll get their exclusive
usage for a while. Looks damn good though,
can't say this enough, us gamers have no idea
how much ass Max Payne 2 will kick yet. I
leave you with this quote about the characters
in Max Payne 2, which is good news for many
of us, annoying Vinnie and cool cat Vladimir
is back :)
"In addition to Max and Mona, all
the other characters who survived in the original
Max Payne will return, and they are all very
much involved in the grim chain of events
that follows: The Mafia captain Vincent "Vinnie"
Gognitti, Max's Russian friend Vladimir Lem,
the mysterious government official Alfred
Woden, and Lieutenant Jim Bravura who chased
Max through the city in the first game and
who now, ironically enough, is Max's boss
in the NYPD. None of the characters in the
story is a saint, and oh, did I mention that
there is no concept of a happy ending in Film
Noir?" - Sami Järvi, Lead writer,
Max Payne 2
Gamespot
with small Max Payne 2 interview 20th September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund GameSpot
has fired off some questions to Remedy's Petri
Järvilehto (Lead Designer on Max
Payne 2) about the physics handled by
Havok. It reveals what many people know but
many people don't. The physics engine handles
so many things other than ragdoll effects.
Oh, I forgot, there's a great new screenshot,
this game is gonna KICK ASS! (I'm not linking
image to a big version since it's a GameSpot
exclusive) I leave you with this quote, go
on over to GameSpot
and check it out.
"Sure, the rag dolls can be really
impressive, so it's no wonder if those are
the first thing that you spot. However, we've
also been able to bring a huge number of other
things into the physical simulation. For example,
all of our dynamic objects are included into
the simulation, so stuff like boxes, ladders,
barrels, paint cans, pool balls, glass bottles,
and so on all behave physically correct. Player
interaction is also included in simulation,
so bullets pass impact on to the objects in
a realistic fashion, running into objects
makes them move away, and you can do things
like balance on top of objects, which is pretty
cool in a third-person game." -

Payne 2
Mod
article and some catching up 19th September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund aavenr over
at our affil. site Deep
Six reports that he's done an interview
with M1tch who's making the mod Gang
Wars, it's a nice little interview which
also includes exclusive screenshots. Check
it out here.
The mod "N.A.R.C."
, which is one of the most interesting ones
on the horizon, is now hosted by Deep Six,
you can find N.A.R.C. here.
Part of the catching up is also reminding
our community users that we've got a new great
resource for adding, reading and editing tutorials
and information on all things editing Max
Payne 1 & 2. It's called Wikipayne
you can find it also at Deep
Six, at this
address.
Some
more updates 17th September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund I've added
two more mods to the
Good Mods page, and I will continue to
add more there as time passes by. In the end
it will be the only place you need to go to
check out what's good for Max Payne. I'm still
dependant on other sites having downloads
for the mods though. One of the mods is Kung
Fu 3 which I've kept out for a while, first
finished one I have in there though. Go to
the page to find out which mod the other one
is.
Maddieman
reveals some interesting info 17th September 2003
by Kristian
"biXen" Hollund Maddieman
has updated Hell's
Kitchen to reveal the info that Katana
2 might be some 1-2 months away only, with
StratonAce finishing up levels and so on.
The same goes for The Real World, the highly
anticipated Matrix mod. Hell's Kitchen is
now probably going to be the only site for
The Real World. Maddie has also given a tutorial
of his a spitshine, check it out, it's about
Animations, and it looks extensive enough
for most people that wants to fiddle with
it. And last but not least, he says he might
be back with Max 2 tutorials :)
Max
Payne Headquarters is dead! 15th
September 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund Some sad news
for the community, GutBomb has decided to
call it quits for Max
Payne Headquarters. The reasons are for
me unknown, but it might be cost, or just
boredom. For this reason no links to MPHQ
from this site will work and will be removed.
The active mods are welcome to Deep
Six, PayneReactor
and the German sites I'm sure, so hopefully
they won't disappear.
Release
dates, trailer & Updates 14th
September 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund It's been
a while. I've updated the Max
Payne 2 Screenshots page with the rest
of the new screenshots. I've also added another
mod to the "The
Good Mods" page, more to come, just
need to get my Max Payne cd back first.
A gameplay teaser trailer has been released,
with in-game footage from Max Payne 2, get
it at www.maxpayne2.com
, it comes in two flavours, one big 70MB Quicktime
file and one 13MB one. Apparently a proper
big trailer will come When It's Done, so hang
in there.
Max Payne 2 is officially scheduled for release
15th October 2003 in North America, 3rd December
for Xbox and PS2 versions. European release
dates will probably be around a week later
or something around there, stay tuned for
more info on that.
I'm currently working on getting the contest
images into the top banner, updating some
of the pages, and we'll soon get a new newsposter
introduced here. Any day now, so check back
for more updates, hopefully more often as
Max Payne 2 gets closer to release. See you
all soon :)
Update: aavenr of Deep
Six has informed me that the release date
for Europe is in fact announced. It's set
to 30th October 2003, which is a silly date
if you ask me. It will surely lead to more
warezing and it's not a good thing for us
fansites in Europe. Still, better late than
never eh?
BIG
Lack of news 7th
September 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund Man oh man.
It's been a while. A lot of stuff has been
happening at work and in my personal life,
I haven't found time or energy to update.
It sucks to let those that like my site down,
but good news is that I'm working on some
big updates. Am also going to update the top
with the ones from the contest, but it involves
some coding, so it's gotta wait till my psyche
is normal again. Some will know why I am like
I am about this site and all, some won't.
What I do know is that I need someone to help
me update this page, those interested can
contact me through the
contact page. You need to be good with
Dreamweaver (MX) and prefereably have written
news for some site before, or just have good
English and writing skills :) To you other
users, for heavy news coverage, Deep Six and
MPHQ is there to help, check back here for
more insight and new stuff, I'm working on
it :\
