Max
Payne 2.com goes live with detailed screenshots 20th August 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund The official
page, Max
Payne 2.com has gone live with a proper
site now. Included are some higher resolution
shots of the game, many new ones, including
the feisty Mona shot you can see in the corner
of this picture I'm posting here, and some
general info. I advise you to stop over on
the site, by
clicking here.

August 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund Well by now
you must have noticed the banner ad on the
top of the page. If not, take a look about
350 pixels above this and a bit to the right
;) I've had a no-banner policy for a while
now. The reason I'm breaking it now is that
this product actually seems very interesting,
and it seems not many people know about it.
The ones that got my attention are these 3D
glasses which due to some cool technology
shifts the picture to make it seem more 3D
to your eyes (which is how we really see things).
I suggest you check it out, read the reviews
on their page and judge for yourself. I might
review it later, it seems like something that
could improve gaming experiences. Basically
it's here on a trial period to see if it's
something my visitors could be interested
in. (Note that you'll never see any annoying
banners or popups or the likes here)
A bit late with this one, but TheManCalledZee
let's us know that the Prologue level for
his mod NARC
(which will be featured in our "The
Good Mods" section soon) is available
for download at Max Payne Headquarters
now. I suggest you go check it out, I definately
will. Notice that it's non-playable, but will
set up the story for the rest of his mod,
which looks promising.
You would also be advised to download Co&Co's
latest map for Max Payne: Fighting the Machines.
I hear it's pretty well done, and his latest
map rocked so I can believe that. I'm going
to get it, you should do the same. Grab
it from MPHQ here.
Max
Payne 2 screenshots and release date + other
news 17th
August 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund Finally Remedy
/ Rockstar has released some screenshots of
Max Payne 2 to the online world with online
quality. I've updated our Max
Payne 2 screenshots page, so be sure to
go check it out. Katana
2 seems to be going along nicely as StratonAce
is constantly updating his
page with news on his level. Go check
it out, the latest are some amazing shots
of some sort of flying thingies that are supposed
to hunt your ass down, unless you take them
down first :)
Deep
Six is reporting that both Eurogamer
and Megagames
has confirmed from Take-Two that Max Payne
2 will be released in October this year. Let's
hope they can keep that schedule.
As a sidenote, there's actually a lot of good
Max Payne mods coming up pretty soon, look
for some of them on the
good mods page soon.
Lack
of news 8th
August 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund I'll be going
on a little vacation now until the end of
next week, so there won't be any updates done.
I'll be coming back strong after this though,
with additions to the good mods page and so
on, so keep checking back. Have a nice one,
I will.
The
winner of the contest! 7th
August 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund I've gone
through all the contest submissions, compared,
put them into the design, found the best art,
best style and best fitting to design. In
the end two of those most easily adjusted
to the design won, but there's 5 pics here
I might end up using in the top in the end
when I get that coded. Really many great submissions
here, if it was something I have to criticise
though, it's that many of them, eventhough
great artwork, didn't fit the theme of the
page well, and that was a criteria :)
Well I guess you want to know who won?
The winner of the contest is Oulbaz with this
entry:
Runner-up was Kwame with this:
To say a bit about why they won. Oulbaz won
because his entry was stylish, looked good,
was well made, fitted the page pretty well
and simply needed few adjustments to fit.
Kwame got second because eventhough simple
his piece shows just enough and it's simplicity
makes it easier to notice. It's also quite
stylish and fitting to the page. Well that's
it everyone, the winners will be contacted
and will get an Official Max Payne 2 t-shirt
each.
Contest
closed 6th
August 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund Allright,
I've added 6 more entries and the contest
is now closed. Thanks for all the entries,
there's a lot of great stuff here. I will
now proceed to pick my top 15, check how they
look in the page and declare a winner based
on some different factors, I will also choose
a runner-up. They both get an Official Max
Payne 2 t-shirt. Hope you've had fun following
the contest, it's gonna be hard to judge a
winner, I hope to have it ready before the
weekend, check back for updates.

Payne Area have had a contest with some
quite cool entries, check out the
winners and the other submissions here.
StratonAce who's making a map for Katana2
is pounding his
page with updates, get over there to check
out the latest one, which shows off a new
guy with a bigass sword, who could he be?
Deep
Six reports that they have recieved word
from TheManCalledZee saying that his mod N.A.R.C.
will release the first level, which is a non-playable
prologue on Thursday the 7th, so check by
their
page to stay updated..
Contest
closing info 4th
August 2003 by
Kristian "biXen" Hollund Tomorrow is
the last day to send me entries for the top
banner contest, I've put up the rest of the
entries I've got on the
contest page for now. Some general info
about what I'm going to do to pick a winner.
I will first pick out the 10-15 I find to
be the best ones, I will then proceed to load
them into my design template to see how they
fit the theme of the page (which was also
an important part of the contest to evaluate)
and then decide on the winner and runner-up
from there. What I already know is that it's
going to be difficult. Now I'm pretty sure
we'll see a verdict before the 9th, and the
t-shirts will be sent, but I'm not sure if
I can get those entries I see fit into the
top banner that soon, there's a little coding
to be done to load jpegs dynamically, and
I'm going on a little vacation from the 9th.
Anyway, the contest is going well, looking
forward to judge this, a lot of good entries
have come in.
